Problem

Western media portrays a negative image when it comes to representing Arab culture, especially Arab women. Western media showcases Arab women as oppressed and controlled by men.

My vision was to play on the stereotypes the Western societies have assigned to Arab women. My goal was to show the ignorance of Americans and Europeans by representing only what they see.

Reflection

The end result was three collages that I made using cardboard, paper, and photographs. This is a starting point for my thesis project.
